International Max Planck Research School for Cell, Developmental, and Systems Biology

A CHALLENGING PHD PROGRAM FOR FUTURE SCIENTISTS

A 4-year PhD Program involving 3 renowned international institutes: the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, the Center for Systems Biology Dresden, and the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems. Degrees are awarded by the Technische Universität Dresden, one of Germany’s Excellence Universities.

We are looking for innovative and independent minds to fill 20 - 25 fully-funded PhD positions per year. With pioneering scientific research, our demanding PhD program is tailored for those who aim high, are willing to take risks, and enjoy a rapid pace. We follow an integrative approach merging biology, physics, chemistry, and computer science to research questions concerning living systems, particularly: How do cells form tissues and organisms? The answer is explored by creatively combining experimental and theoretical approaches, spanning scales from molecules to organisms, and continuously developing new angles and approaches. In our program, creativity and collaboration count.
