Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership

AHRC funded studentships for UK/EU doctoral researchers

The Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership (M3C) is an AHRC-funded collaboration between the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, De Montfort University, University of Leicester, Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham. M3C provides combined research expertise for the professional and personal development of the next generation of arts and humanities doctoral researchers. It delivers excellence in all aspects of research supervision and training and provides access to a wide range of facilities, cohort events and placement opportunities with regional, national and international partners in the cultural, creative and heritage sectors.

Midlands3Cities Doctoral Training Partnership is awarding up to 80 PhD studentships in arts and humanities for UK/EU applicants for 2018 entry through an open competition.

M3C is also awarding 7 Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDA) through a linked CDA competition with partner organisations: Flatpack Festival, Leicester City Council, Nottingham City Museums and Galleries, Nottingham Contemporary, Oxford Lieder, Royal Shakespeare Company, and Spalding Gentlemen's Society.

You will benefit from:

  • Membership of a world-leading research environment
  • High quality supervision teams (with the potential for cross-institutional supervision and the inclusion of professionals from the cultural, creative and heritage sectors)
  • Interdisciplinary and collaborative research opportunities
  • Placements and other professional development activities
  • Engagement with professions and communities who use your research

How to apply for funding:

In order to be considered for funding, you need to be a UK/EU applicant who meets the eligibility criteria as detailed within AHRC and M3C guidelines. You must also have applied for a place to study at one of the six M3C universities and have provided two academic references as part of the application procedure.

The deadline for applications for an AHRC-funded M3C studentship for 2018 entry is 15 January 2018 (midnight).
