About the Programme

The School of Environment, Education and Development is pleased to announce a number of postgraduate research studentships for September 2016 entry. These awards will cover tuition fees and include annual stipends of approximately £14, 210 (subject to final confirmation) for a period of three years, subject to satisfactory progress. Studentships are open to home / EU and overseas students. Applicants should have received an offer of a place for September 2016 entry on one of the following PhD programmes by Friday 22 April 2016. In order for your PhD application to be processed in good time you are advised to apply for the PhD programme no later than Friday 25 March 2016. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of May 2016.

• PhD Architecture
• PhD Development Policy and Management
• PhD Education (3 year programme only)
• PhD Human Geography
• PhD Physical Geography
• PhD Planning and Environmental Management

Candidates should meet the entry requirements of the School of Environment, Education and Development:

• Bachelor degree with First Class or Upper Second Class Honours (or international equivalent)
• Master degree with a minimum grade of 60% in the dissertation and a minimum taught average grade of 60% (or international equivalent)
• English language proficiency if applicable – minimum of IELTS 7 overall with 7 in writing and 6 in the other subsections or TOEFL 100 overall with 25 in writing and 22 in the other subsections or Pearson 66 overall with 66 in writing and 59 in the other subsections

All eligible offer holders who do not already have other funding confirmed will be considered for School studentships. No additional application procedures apply. Please note that should you wish to apply for any other award separate application procedures may apply.

Please note that existing PhD students cannot be considered for this funding.
