Research environment
The Department of Politics is a thriving space for research and public engagement on a range of political areas. We focus most of our research activity through our research centres: the Centre for Research on the European Matrix (CRonEM) and the Centre for International Intervention (Cii). With colleagues working across political and international relations topics, and an open and collegiate environment, we encourage and support innovative thinking and activities, with postgraduate researchers playing an important role in this. This includes opportunities for researcher training, discussion and presentation of work and regular external speakers, as well as participation in the events organised within the Faculty and University. Currently we have approximately 15 doctoral students with us, with dedicated facilities and space to work.
Areas of specialism
The Department particularly encourages applications in the areas listed below, but is also interested in those planning to work in other areas that broadly fit with the School's areas of research.
Key research areas include:
• European politics
• International politics
• British politics
• Electoral politics
• East and South-East Asian politics
