Profile Description

The University of Reading is delighted to be a member of the South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS), an ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) bringing together a number of partner Universities to provide outstanding postgraduate training for postgraduate research students in the social sciences. SeNSS draws on a rich variety of collaborations in research and in research training across the partner institutions; it also benefits from advanced training links to other Universities in the region.

SeNSS Studentships 2017

SeNSS is one of 14 ESRC-funded DTPs in the UK and is offering fully-funded doctoral studentship to start in September 2017. Reading can offer studentships in the following pathways: 

  • Development Studies 
  • Economics 
  • Education 
  • Human Geography 
  • Linguistics
  • Management and Business Studies
  • Political Science and International Studies
  • Psychology
  • Socio-Legal Studies

What is available? 

Fully-funded studentships include the following elements: 

  • Tuition fees at UK/EU rates*
  • Stipend / Living allowance: £14,296 per year 
  • Research training support grant

UK students are eligible for fees and a living allowance. EU candidates are entitled for studentships covering tuition fees. *International applicants can apply for studentships in the Economics pathway. 

How to apply

New students wishing to be considered for funding via SeNSS must apply for admission to a PhD programme at the University of Reading by 16th January 2017 at the very latest.
