About This PhD Profile

Profile Description

Our School
The University of Edinburgh Business School has been ranked 16th in the UK and second in Scotland according to the Power Index, which measures the quality and breadth of research, in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessment. Recognition in the REF adds to our success of joining the 1% of business schools worldwide to be ‘triple-accredited' from international ranking bodies, AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.

Research in Accounting and Finance
The research interests of the Accounting and Finance Group http://www.business-school.ed.ac.uk/research/clusters/accounting-finance connect with and inform theoretical and practitioner debates in the field. Our research culture is enhanced by a vibrant and integrated community of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, a seminar programme hosting leading academics, participation in international networks, and increasing links with practitioner communities. There is a strong interdisciplinary dimension to our work, involving collaboration with researchers within and beyond the group, the School, and the University.

Within the Accounting and Finance Group resides the Centre for Accounting and Society which aims to study how accounting, the accounting profession and various calculative practices impact on the management and governance of organisations, cultural formations, and the definition of economic and social relationships. It is seeking two dynamic researchers to join a group of globally recognised academics.

Successful applicants will join the PhD programme in September. For further details on the doctoral programme at the Business School please see our website http://www.business-school.ed.ac.uk/phd/programme-details
