At the forefront of Primary care research
Integrating evidence and innovation, our main focus is on the prevention, early diagnosis and management of common illness; bringing together academics from many different backgrounds to work together to produce benefits for the NHS, for populations and for patients. We have methodological strengths in qualitative and applied research, randomised trials, analysis of big data and evidence synthesis.

Our department offers a DPhil in both Primary Health Care and Translational Health Sciences, available as part-time and full-time.

We also supervise the part-time DPhil in Evidence-Based Health Care, which is offered through the Department of Continuing Education with the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine.
Main application deadline: 12:00 noon, Friday 3 December 2021.
All applications for our DPhil in Primary Health Care and DPhil in Translational Health Sciences received by our December deadline will be entered into a competition within the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford that offers the chance of full funding for any project.

Potential projects
We offer several fully funded studentships, in addition to suggested projects without funding. Alternatively, you can submit your own idea for a project, where we strongly encourage you to contact a supervisor to discuss. All applicants must develop their own research proposal.
