About the Programme

About LSP

The Land Society and Policy (LSP) Programme of LEEP (Land, Environment, Economics and Policy Institute) is a grouping of social scientists within the Politics Department with a long track record of undertaking research on topics including agricultural and environmental policy, sustainable land management and the sociology of agriculture sustainable land management. Much of this work has a strong policy focus. Previous PhD students have gone on to a range of career destinations including academia, research support, consultancy and government agencies. We offer a friendly research environment alongside all the benefits of conducting research at one of the UK's top universities.

One of our final year PhD students says:
“LEEP provides the postgraduate researcher the opportunity to become part of a wider research community from the outset. This ensures that students never feel like they are working in isolation, and subsequently provides opportunities to gain input from a wide pool of friendly specialists in various fields of expertise. On a wider scale, the University of Exeter offers a broad range of postgraduate resources to enhance your development on both a personal and professional level, ensuring that your work and expectations are both manageable and achievable. I feel confident that the skills and self-reliance that I have developed during my time at LEEP have prepared me well for a future career in research.”
