About the Programme

Research at the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy & Politics, Queen's University Belfast
The School of HAPP offers an excellent setting to pursue a PhD in its title disciplinary fields, and to benefit from the cross-disciplinary expertise and engagements that form part of our School's intellectual life. As well as research methods training, PhD students can develop their personal research pathway and professional skills portfolio through engagement with their supervisory team, the Graduate School and other University graduate training facilities and offerings. The School of HAPP hosts a variety of seminar series, many of which are student-led, as well as other PhD-focused events including writing retreats. There are also many teaching opportunities for PhD students wishing to develop their skills for an academic career. PhD / MPhil degrees
Applications are invited for PhD/MPhil degrees which are awarded on the basis of original, independent research. Proposals are welcomed in any field of study of the school

Research programmes are available on a full-time and part-time basis (normally 3 years full-time/6 years part-time for PhD; and 2 years full-time/4 years part-time for MPhil) subject to University criteria being met.
