 Funded PhD Programme (Students Worldwide)

About the Programme

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals wishing to undertake doctoral research and join a supportive and research active community.

Two PhD opportunities have arisen for exceptional candidates to undertake research within the University of Winchester's Centre for Information Rights. Data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence can draw major insights from data, and promise much for individuals and society. This new information environment however comes with many risks and uncertainties. An interdisciplinary approach is required to build understanding of the technical, legal, ethical and societal aspects of this information environment and for key issues to be addressed and policy developed. Applicants should be researching in the area of big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning and its associated legal, policy and ethical issues. Proposals should outline should how the project aligns with the above themes and how it includes interdisciplinary research which is an essential requirement.
