Research at Aston Business School
The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirmed ABS's position as one of the leading business schools in the UK. In a submission which included 96% of our academic staff, the majority of our research activity was judged to be either ‘world leading' or ‘internationally excellent'. Our research activities encompass leading edge research into business and management issues, and doctoral level training for research students (PhD and DBA).
ABS has six distinct Academic Groups which provide the homes for academics and research students. These are Economics and Strategy, Finance and Law, Marketing, Operations and Information Management, Work and Organisational Psychology and Aston Law.
The PhD Programme
Aston Business School's successful PhD in Business and Management is a substantial research degree and requires students to make a contribution to knowledge. A doctorate by research is the highest degree that a student can gain from a university. As such it is imperative that you are supervised by a top academic, as well as receiving top quality research methods training to guide your research-Aston PhD's programme provides both.
Our underlying principle is to ensure that doctoral research is of a very high standard, the experience of our students is excellent and that, through our programme, we are significantly advancing understanding about economies, markets, organisations and about the flourishing of those who work within them and are served by them.
As a PhD student, you will be linked with one of Aston Business School's six distinct Academic Groups with supervisors drawn from one or more of them.
