The Revolutionary Potential in Non-binary Gender Identity - Project ID SAS0032

This PhD will explore the current state of and debates concerning gender identity with a particular focus on the ramifications of contesting or even dissolving the traditional exclusive binary positions of male and female. Adopting a Lacanian / post-Lacanian approach the project would seek to critically evaluate salient theories of gender as well as analysing contemporary discourses around issues of gender identity

Academic qualifications
A first degree (at least a 2.1) ideally in the humanities or social sciences with a good fundamental knowledge of psychoanalytic theory.

English language requirement
IELTS score must be at least 6.5 (with not less than 6.0 in each of the four components). Other, equivalent qualifications will be accepted. Full details of the University’s policy are available online.

• Competent in argument analysis
• Knowledge of the psychoanalytic cannon
