About the Project

A role for muscle afferent feedback in modifying the ventilatory response to exercise in man has recently been suggested. Our laboratory has provided further evidence in support of this idea. This project aims to investigate how altering muscle afferent feedback might influence the control of breathing in man. There are sport related applications of this work as well as relevance to patients with chronic heart failure or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
