Evolutionary Theory: Exploring the role of intragenomic conflict in the evolution of molecular mechanisms

Project Description

I research how genes, individuals, and social structures can evolve making use of mathematical models. In particular, I have devoted some time to explore the role of intragenomic conflict in the evolution of molecular mechanisms (meiotic drive, genomic imprinting, recombination hotspots) and the role of corrupt punishment in the evolution of cooperation. The aim of my research is to provide testable hypothesis and to discuss them in the light of biological and medical evidence. The research I carry out will require some mathematical and/or computer science training on top of a good biological knowledge.
