Project Description

Under the umbrella of the AHRC funded ‘Interdisciplinary Italy 1900-2020: Interart Intermedia’, Dr Clodagh Brook invites expressions of interest for PhDs focused on multi-disciplinary or cross-disciplinary research on the arts in modern and contemporary Italy. For detailed information on the project see: http://www.interdisciplinaryitaly.org

PhD students may want to explore the relations between particular artists and writers, how cafe culture or internet culture affects the relations between artists or the artworks produced, the contribution of Italian thinkers to the debates on the interartistic, interdisciplinary or transmedial practice, and so on. PhD students are likely to have the opportunity to work with the Interdisciplinary Italy project in some capacity, which has an intellectual network of academics, and links to art galleries like the Estorick in London as well as the British School at Rome. Dr Brook may recommend co-supervision with, for example, the Departments of Music or History of Art, if the project would benefit from input from other disciplines beyond Italian Studies.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DR BROOK IS MOVING TO A NEW POST AT TRINITY COLLEGE, DUBLIN from 1st SEPTEMBER 2017, where new funding opportunities will be available.
