Project Description

Under the umbrella of the AHRC funded ‘Interdisciplinary Italy 1900-2015: Art, Music Text’, Dr Clodagh Brook invites expressions of interest for PhDs focused on multi-disciplinary or cross-disciplinary research on the arts in modern and contemporary Italy. For detailed information on the project see: http://www.interdisciplinaryitaly.com

PhD students may want to explore the relations between particular artists and writers, how cafe culture or internet culture affects the relations between artists or the artworks produced, the contribution of Italian thinkers to the debates on the interartistic, interdisciplinary or transmedial practice, and so on. PhD students are likely to have the opportunity to work with the Interdisciplinary Italy project in some capacity. Dr Brook may recommend co-supervision with, for example, the Departments of Music or History of Art at the University of Birmingham, if the project would benefit from input from other disciplines beyond Italian Studies.
