About the Project
The University of Canterbury and CertusBio Ltd invite applications for an exciting PhD scholarship on electrochemical enzyme-based biosensors for the detection of the oestrogen and progesterone. The outcome of the study is to develop and commercialise products for multiple markets where these hormones play a key role.
This is a multidisciplinary project so the student will be exposed to aspects of biotechnology, chemistry and nanotechnology (previous experience working in these fields would be advantageous). We are seeking a motivated candidate to undertake this project which will develop their technical skills but also with the added benefit of being in a commercialisation environment, making the successful candidate more attractive to future employers.
All applicants must have:
A Master’s or Honours degree in a relevant discipline
Enthusiastic, diligent, eager to learn and contribute to research and commercialisation aspects of the project
Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong analytical and problem solving skills
The scholarship includes a stipend and PhD fees for three years, and a relocation allowance.
The intended start date for this projects is January 2016, although there is flexibility to start a month later. Interested candidates will need to provide:
