Development of a miniature pyroelectric accelerator for multiple application

John Adams Institute (JAI) for Accelerator Science offers a PhD opportunity in the area of novel particle production and acceleration techniques, in particular, development of a miniature accelerator based on a pyroelectric crystal. An applicant will work with the world leading experts in the field from STFC Accelerator Science and Technology Centre in Daresbury Laboratory in collaboration with scientists from Russia and will be able to acquire a very broad range of skills including analytical calculations, engineering design of both hardware for ultra-high vacuum applications, its automation and manipulation, data acquisition system, statistical data analysis, presentation of the results and scientific paper writing.
