About This PhD Project

Project Description

The optical/infrared variability of low mass stars and brown dwarfs is starting to reveal a startling range of behaviours. Observations indicate the presence of giant storms outside our solar system, and also the presence of aurora many thousands of times more powerful than those seen in our solar system. What is not yet clear is how common each of these phenomena are. In this project, you will investigate whether storms or aurorae dominate the variability of brown dwarfs.
