Project Description

We seek a PhD applicant (to enrol no later than 31 January 2017) in the area of Digital Humanities, specifically to work on text corpora and interactive visualization of text analytics. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and skilled software developer who is keen to create an innovative public resource with a visual interface for computational analyses of a culturally interesting text dataset. You will work with researchers at Swansea University based in Computer Science and in Arts and Humanities, whose projects include experimental visual analysis of literary multi-translations corpora.

Eligibility

Candidates must have a BSc or an MSc in Computer Science.

Due to funding restrictions, this studentship is open to UK/EU students only.

Funding Notes

The studentship covers the full cost of UK/EU tuition fees, plus a tax free stipend of £14,296 p.a.

There will also be additional funds for research expenses (e.g. conferences, fieldwork) up to a value of £1200 p.a. (£600 p.a. from the College of Arts and Humanities; £600 p.a. from the College of Science).
