About This PhD Project

Project Description

Fully Funded Ph.D. in Cancer Drug Discovery

Dr. Ruiwen Zhang’s Laboratory at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy in Amarillo, Texas, is recruiting new Ph.D. students. His lab is nationally and internationally recognized for researches in cancer biology, cancer pharmacology and experimental therapeutics. The research team includes experts on cancer biology, drug discovery and development, medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, preclinical and clinical pharmacology, toxicology, and pharmaceutical sciences. Recent publications appear in high-impact journals (e.g., PNAS, EMBO Journal, Gastroenterology, Nature Communications, Cancer Research, Clinical Cancer Research, Nature Reviews Cancer, BBA Review Cancer, & Medicinal Research Review, and Oncogene). An ideal candidate should have an interest and/or experience in cancer research, drug discovery and development. The applicant must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE: www.ets.org/gre). International applicants (whose Bachelor degree is not from a United States college or university) must have a TOEFL (http://www.ets.org/toefl) score of 79, or an IELTS (http://www.ielts.org) of 6.5. The requirements of the GRE and TOEFL/IELTS are non-negotiable. The admitted student will be eligible for an annual stipend of $25,000 for the duration of the program, along with tuition waivers if student remains in good standing. TTUHSC (www.ttuhsc.edu) is a major doctoral degrees granting and internationally recognized research-intensive state university in Texas, USA. The doctoral study in the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (GPPS) is a four- to five-year program that involves two years of coursework plus two to three years of research work.
