About the Project

The hypothesis tests how tooth brush abrasion changes the early erosive lesion. The null hypothesis is that abrasion does not change the early erosive lesion Aims • To investigate the effect of increasing the number of brush strokes (1, 5, 10 and 50) on an early enamel and dentine erosive lesion using previously developed laboratory models (citric acid pH 3.2 for 1, 3 and 5mins). • To investigate the influence of increasing abrasiveness of toothpaste on enamel (REA) and dentine (RDA) • To investigate the influence of increasing load on erosion/abrasion lesion • To investigate the effect of fluoride on erosion/abrasion lesion • To investigate the influence of whole mouth human saliva on the early erosive/abrasive lesion • To compare data from profilometry measurement (gold standard) and microhardness to colorimetry to validate if the latter measure can detect change.
