About the Project

A 4-year EPSRC-funded studentship is available in the area of Scientific Computation. The project will be a collaboration between UCL’s Department of Physics and Astronomy and Computer Science. The PhD will address a number of topics including:

1. Inverse problems such as developing highly accurate potential energy surfaces from high resolution spectroscopic data;
2. Determining uncertainties in computed cross sections for electron - molecule collisions;
3. Computation and handling of big data involved in molecular line lists.

The project will contain a significant part of code development and training will be offered on a variety of appropriate computational techniques and
underlying theory.
