Prof Stuart Galloway, Dr P Norman  No more applications being accepted  Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

About the Project

Electrical systems have become increasingly complex in recent years in order to achieve greater levels of performance and to capitalise on technology advances. This increasing level of system sophistication and interdependence brings additionally challenges to more electric transport equivalents in their development and delivery.

An exciting opportunity exists for fully funded PhD study at the University of Strathclyde in direct collaboration with partners from the aircraft industry that will look at the increasing electrification of engines and the aircraft itself. The research work will aim to make commercial aircraft power systems lighter, safer, more efficient and cost effective.

Applications are invited from UK/EU students with, or expecting to gain, a first or upper second class honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or similar numerate discipline, graduating Masters students or those with equivalent relevant professional experience.

Students will be joining a thriving and growing team of vibrant PhD students and leading postdoctoral experts in advanced aerospace electrical systems. Guidance will be provided from a dedicated and experienced academic team, as well as industrial mentorship from expert engineers from across the UK aerospace sector.

Funding Notes

Funding is open to EU/UK students only and covers fees and stipend in line with UKRC rates.
