Project Detail:
The development of more efficient solar cells is key to providing security of energy supply and tackling climate change. The Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST) at Loughborough University houses one of the most comprehensively equipped Laboratories for Photovoltaics research. A number of projects are available to develop more efficient second generation thin film solar cells. Projects include work on device materials and architectures, device efficiency measurement and characterisation as well as modelling. Many of the projects involve collaboration with Industry and leading International Laboratories.

Entry requirements:
Applicants should have, or expect to achieve, at least a 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent) in a science or engineering subject. A relevant Master’s degree and/or experience in solar technology would be an advantage.

Funding Notes

The studentship is for 3 years and provides a tax-free stipend of £14,296 per annum (2016/17 rate) for the duration, plus tuition fees at the UK/EU rate. Due to funding restrictions, this is only available to those who are eligible to pay UK/EU tuition fees.
