About the Project

Marie Curie PhD Fellowship in Innovation Management Fixed term for 3 years

Leeds University Business School (UK) and Ericsson AB (Sweden) are delighted to announce Marie Curie PhD Fellowships as part of the European Industrial Doctorate Programme (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action). We are looking for intellectually curious candidates who aspire to gain a doctorate in the discipline of Management. Successful candidates will benefit from an innovative and collaborative doctoral programme that combines training at one of the leading UK Business Schools with a comprehensive placement at the technology champion Ericsson AB.

The salary for a Marie Curie PhD Fellow would be approximately €45,000 per year, plus a family allowance if applicable. Salary will be paid in GBP using an appropriate conversion rate.

Appointed Marie Curie PhD Fellows will investigate organisational, strategic and institutional challenges of Complex and Open Innovation for Networked Society (COINS). Unique features of this European Industrial Doctorate are: a) an in-depth investigation of innovation dynamics at emergent ecosystems and complex organizations, b) industry-led complementary training in the domains of Professional Innovation Management, c) a bespoke programme of COINS network events that bring together doctoral researchers, academics, practicing managers and policymakers interested in innovation and d) 18 months placement at Ericsson AB in Sweden.

Please note that this MARIE SKLODOWSKA-CURIE scheme is funded by the European Commission who have set specific eligibility criteria for this vacancy. Please see the attached document which outlines the European Commission’s requirements for eligibility:

The primary objective of the EID programme is international mobility (i.e. move from one country to another) and this is a requirement for the Marie Curie PhD Fellow when taking up the appointment. At the time of recruitment by the University of Leeds, the candidate must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to her/his recruitment under the project. The Fellow should be within four years of the start of their research career at the time of taking up the position.

Successful candidates will also be required to complete an application for and be accepted on the PhD programme at Leeds University Business School. Applications from women, who are currently under-represented in this area, will be particularly welcome; however, the final recruitment decision will be based solely on merit.
