About the Project

The Arab Uprisings challenged widespread preconceptions of socio-political systems in the Middle East and the orthodox conceptual toolkit used to analyse the region. The ArabTrans project (arabtrans.eu) carried out surveys of MENA countries covering political, economic and social life, integrated it with both other survey and quantitative data (e.g. indicators on governance, economics, human rights, etc.), and produced a longitudinal dataset of these data spanning 2010-2015. The data analysis draws on cutting edge scholarship from both Political Science and Area Studies.

Applications are welcomed which build on an aspect of the project. Preference will be given to interdisciplinary approaches integrating the use of quantitative and qualitative data. Both orthodox positivist and heterodox post-positivist approaches are welcome.

Please note: specific queries concerning any aspect of the project are welcome, queries about the application process should be directed to the Admissions Office ([Email Address Removed]).
