About the Project

The aim of this project is to develop scalable models and algorithms for fusion of big data in complex systems. The project will focus on problems from smart cities –such as traffic modelling, mobility prediction and control. Spatial and temporal aspects will be studied, including mobility patterns. These will help cities to cope with their expansion and dynamics. The project will investigate novel probabilistic methods for extracting knowledge from data and decision making in support of intelligent autonomous systems.

Funding Notes

Prospective candidates should have an MSc, MMath or MEng in mathematics, statistics, physics, aerospace engineering, signal processing, electrical engineering or a related subject.

Applicants can apply for a Scholarship from the University of Sheffield but should note that competition for these Scholarships is highly competitive. it will be possible to make Scholarship applications from the Autumn with a strict deadline in late January/early February. Specific information will appear: http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/acse/research-degrees/scholarships
