About the Project

The Hospital of the University of Munich, Germany, is one of the largest and most competitive university hospitals in Germany and Europe. 46 specialized hospitals, departments and institutions harbouring excellent research and education provide patient care at the highest medical level with approximately 10.000 employees.

The Institute for Cardiovascular Prevention (IPEK) offers a PhD Position in Chemokine Receptor-Mediated Control of plasmacytoid dendritic cell Plasticity in Chronic Inflammation.

A PhD position is available to study Chemokine-driven interactions of inflammatory cell types at sites of inflammation including plasmacytoid dendritic cell (DC) Plasticity in Chronic Inflammation. Using atherosclerosis as a disease model for chronic inflammation, the project will interrogate (plasmacytoid) DC effects on T cell homeostasis, function and plasticity, study the role of chemokine receptors in DC localization, migration and T cell interactions and employ cell-specific reporter mouse models to comprehensively dissect e. g. cell localization.

We offer:

Eligible candidates (m/f) should have experience with mouse models, immunological and molecular biological techniques, a strong motivation and team spirit. German language skills would be helpful, solid English skills written and spoken are mandatory. The successful candidate (m/f) should hold an above-average Diploma/Master's degree in biological sciences or related fields and have experience with basic methods of molecular and cellular biology. The PhD (m/f) will work at the institute for cardiovascular prevention (IPEK) at the LMU in Munich, Germany (www.klinikum.uni-muenchen.de/Institut-fuer-Prophylaxe-und-Epidemiologieder-Kreislaufkrankheiten; www.sfb1123.med.unimuenchen.de).
