Understanding moderated models: Developing a clear typology of interpretations for moderated models that can be applied consistently by researchers across different fields

Many theories in psychology, management and other areas include an “it depends” element – for example, the job demands-resources model predicts that the negative impact of demands on health is less strong when individuals have access to appropriate resources. Often such theories are tested using moderated models. Although many methods of testing such models are commonly used, the best way of interpreting the findings are often misunderstood. This project will seek to develop a clear typology of interpretations for moderated models that can be applied consistently by researchers across different fields. It would suit a psychologist or organisational researcher with a
particular interest in quantitative methods and statistics.
