About the Project

Working with the Tavistock Co-operative Schools Trust, this project seeks to carry out an ethnographic case study of the role of schooling in the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of young people within Tavistock, a town in Devon. We welcome potential doctoral researchers wishing to work on a range of social, developmental or religious and spiritual dimensions raised by this project. The University has an ongoing partnership with Tavistock Co-operative Schools Trust, and a concentration of staff interested in the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of children and young people, and it is expected that the doctoral student will be engaged in seeking out links and opportunities in this area as they intersect with the agendas of local and national funders.
