Synthetic biology in unicellular green algea

Green picoalgae are important constituents of marine plankton and play important role in sea ecology and biogeochemical cycles. They represent some of the smallest eukaryotes with simple body organization and highly streamlined genomes. They make these organisms suitable for a number of biotechnological applications. This PhD projects aims at establishing genome editing tools in marine picoalgae Ostreococcus sp. and use them to study various mechanisms governing genome stability. http://rihalab.ceitec.cz/members-of-our-team/

Applicants who wish to pursue a degree at the CEITEC PhD programme must hold the equivalent of a Master’s degree (MSc) in similar field (four or five year undergraduate degree). The application can be submitted before obtaining the Master’s degree, however, the applicant should obtain the degree within five month after the application deadline.
