About the Project
A PhD student position is currently available in the Vibrational Imaging group, headed by Prof. Carlo Liberale, in the Biological and Environmental Sciences & Engineering Division at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, Saudi Arabia).
The Liberale group is a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers and biologists committed to the development and application of new-generation label-free microscopy methods for biomedical research. The laboratory is equipped with cutting edge instruments and technology in the field of vibrational micro-spectroscopy. Additionally, KAUST offers exceptional infrastructure for scientific research and is equipped with state of the art core facilities for imaging, characterization and micro-\nano-fabrication.
An innovative high-speed broadband Stimulated Raman Scattering system will be designed and set up in our laboratory, in the framework of a recently awarded grant, in collaboration with Prof. Giulio Cerullo and Prof. Dario Polli at Politecnico di Milano.
We are looking for ambitious and self-motivated candidates to work on the set up and application of the Stimulated Raman Scattering system, in a collaborative and interdisciplinary project involving radiation-matter interaction, nonlinear optics, ultrashort laser pulses, detectors, electronic instrumentation and finally investigating lipid dysregulation in cancer.
Funding Notes
A Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics/Optical Engineering, Physics or a related field is required.
Highly competitive PhD scholarships are provided. Benefits: free housing; relocation support; life insurance; subsidized medical and dental insurance; one round-trip airline ticket per year to visit home country.
