About the Project

Plant pathogenic bacteria are a valuable but under-exploited bio-resource. This project will explore the biotechnological potential of the National Collection of Plant Pathogenic Bacteria using advanced microarray and enzyme discovery platforms to bio-prospect for novel enzyme activities and polymers. We will also seek to identify pathovar-specific biomarkers for diagnostics development.

Funding Notes

Studentships are normally available for 3 year PhDs covering tuition fees and an annual stipend of £14,553.

Applications from both UK/EU and other non-EU international applicants will be considered; however, as this studentship only covers UK/EU fees, the difference in fees for non-EU international students will need to be met by the applicant. Annual fees are £14,665 per year for home/EU and £26,710 for International. So international students must provide payment for the difference per year in fees of £12,045.
