About the Project
Faculty: Business and Law
Department: Business and Management
Project Description:
By nature, universities are not innovative and entrepreneurial organizations. However, there are certain universities called “entrepreneurial universities” characterized by a strong organizational effort on the environmental adaptation and development of adequate environments that fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the university community (students, academics, staff).
Policy makers and researchers have paid strong interest to understand this phenomenon; particularly, entrepreneurial universities are important and significant contributors to economies and societies. The main reason is because they are at the nexus of knowledge development and transfer. As a result, entrepreneurial universities have become critical actors for regions and countries in the realization of further economic and social development.
This study is oriented to explore the determinants (at environmental, organizational and individual level) as well as the socio-economic impacts of entrepreneurial universities located in different regions and countries. Adopting different theoretical and methodological approaches, we expect to provide new insights about the entrepreneurial university evolution as well as contribute to the debate of the role of universities in the society.
