About the Project

The project will focus on an exploration into the relationship between art, activism and technology use and ways of representing the ‘space between’ in politically motivated art and socially engaged practice. The project may examine ways of documenting the effects of industry and its decline on people’s lives in areas of post-industrial regeneration. The project may examine interventions taking place in context of regeneration and community engagement. The project may contain a strong practice-led element.

The project will reflect on future organizational and institutional issues associated with current environmental and social challenges and equality in the context of unfolding global crisis.

The studentship may benefit from access to the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) Office, as part of UWS’s Glasgow Creative Enterprise Cluster and will be supervised by a multidisciplinary team drawn from the School of Media Culture and Society and School of Computing and Engineering. The interdisciplinary cluster brings together researchers, students and practitioners to consider issues of collaborative and creative work, cultural labour, and discourses of creativity, identity and community in the context of a globalising network society.
