About the Project

Formation damage reduces significantly the well production and its adverse effects on the production of a well are inevitable. Conventional stimulation techniques used in oil and gas industry for removing formation damage are generally expensive to use, need a wide range of surface apparatus, shut the production, and generate dangerous environmental results. Ultrasound technique is an economical and environmental friendly technology, which has been widely used in oil and gas industry, such as pipeline inspection, fluid velocity measurement and demulsification. In this study, the impact of ultrasound radiation on formation damage mechanisms will be investigated using a series of experimental approaches including pore scale and lab scale.

The successful candidate should have, or expect to have, an Honours Degree at 2.1 or above (or equivalent) in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.

Essential background: Petroleum Engineering or related discipline

Knowledge of: Petroleum Engineering Laboratory & Simulation skills

Funding Notes

This project is for self-funded students only. There is no funding attached to this project. The successful applicant will be expected to pay Tuition Fees and living expenses, from their own resources, for the duration of study.
