About the Project

This project involves development of a new approach to environmental risk assessment for improved environmental management. The approach combines use of biosensors, speciation modelling, and development of advanced biosensing techniques into an overall watershed framework. Taihu is used as a model demonstration area for proof-of-concept, and lead (Pb) is chosen as a priority pollutant of concern, though other metals may be studied. Project collaborators include a distinguished neuroscientist from the University of Liverpool, and a distinguished senior researcher from the Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, State Key Laboratory of Lake Science and Environment.
