About the Project

This PhD project will focus on the synthesis of atomically precise metal clusters (core direction of Golovko research group) as the key elements of novel photocatalysts for conversion of carbon dioxide to useful chemicals (fuels).
The candidate is expected:
a) to have an excellent foundation/knowledge of inorganic materials chemistry
and
b) to have solid lab skills.

Prior experience of working using Schlenk line techniques and pressurized reaction vessels would be a bonus. Working knowledge of a wide range of materials characterization techniques (electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, AFM etc.) would help to secure this position. Willingness to travel internationally to use synchrotron facilities to characterize materials made during this project is a must.
Finally, the candidate is expected to be proactive team-worker since this project is part of wider collaboration with research teams in New Zealand, Australia and USA.

We are looking for either:
a) the first class student who has graduated already
or
b) a student who is about to graduate and is likely to secure the first class level grades (provisional transcripts can be provided as part of the application by the deadline specified for this position, while official final results will have to be provided for the enrollment).
