About the Project

The UCL Centre for Urban Sustainability and Resilience (USAR) invites applications for one PhD studentship, which is available to support a student studying on a full-time basis for September 2017 entry.

As a member of USAR, the successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary centre that provides a critical mass of problem solvers and intellectual resources and offers excellent networking opportunities. USAR is an energetic and exciting environment that draws on staff from across the university. The successful candidate will also have the chance to be part of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering - a revolutionary department within UCL, distinguished by its radical thinking and interdisciplinary approach to research and teaching.

Award details: The award covers tuition fees (Home/EU rate) and a stipend (£16,553, 2017/18 rate) funded by the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering CEGE). Award duration: three years.

We are seeking applications from individuals wishing to investigate the socio-technical aspects of sustainable and resilient infrastructure systems for urban communities. The Centre has a particular interest in projects that focus on the nexus between different urban systems such as water, energy, waste, food and transport.

Entry requirements: The award is open to UK and EU students with a minimum of an upper second-class Bachelor’s degree from a UK university (or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard) in a subject relevant to their chosen topic.
