Overview:

The Question we are researching with this studentship is:

How do technical, market and regulatory issues affect the case for buildings as power plants?
We will look at the consideration of technical factors, market and economic factors under a range of scenarios and the interaction between these to determine the opportunity for the use of buildings as power plants in future energy systems.

Secondly we would consider regulatory factors, their impact as a barrier or enabler, their relative impact under a range of scenarios, in order to determine the regulatory issues of the building as a power plant.

Studying the above factors will be articulated through a number of scenarios, described through a financial framework using appropriate software tools, any uncertainties to be highlighted while investigating the above factors will be expressed in these scenarios.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants should have a first class or upper second class Honours degree in Electrical Power Engineering. You must also have the potential for performing original research.

Funding Notes

100% tuition fees for three years and an annual stipend of £14,553. Depending on how you meet the EPSRC’s eligibility criteria (https://www.epsrc.ac.uk/skills/students/help/eligibility/), you may be entitled to a full or a partial award. The award is available to UK/EU applicants only.
