About the Project

Biomass is generally viewed as a CO2 neutral energy source. Biomass pyrolysis and gasification can produce syngas. To use this syngas for gas turbine power plants, the main technical barrier is the high tar composition in such syngas. Plasma reactor with various catalysts provides a promising solution for effective tar reduction. This project aims to evaluate the feasibility of such a technical solution through process modelling and simulation.

Funding Notes

Applicants should have a minimum of an upper second class honours degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, bioscience or a related technical subject, or have an appropriate MSc qualification.

If English is not your first language then you must have International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) average of 6.5 or above with at least 6.0 in each component.
