About the Project

Applications are invited for a 3-year full-time PhD (Clinical) studentship to support an ambitious student at the Centre for Oral Immunobiology & Regenerative Medicine (COIRM), at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. Applicants must have full registration with the General Dental Council and previous experience in Periodontology.

The aim of the study on ‘Minimally-invasive treatment of periodontal intrabony defects’ is to perform a randomised controlled trial on the efficacy of minimally-invasive non-surgical treatment of periodontal intrabony defects. The study has clinical, radiographic, data imaging and laboratory components, some of which will form the basis for the PhD. The recruited PhD student will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists, nurses and support staff within the COIRM as with other team members from the larger organisation and will provide clinical research support for studies relating to periodontology. The recruited PhD student will be reporting to supervisors Dr Luigi Nibali, Senior Lecturer at COIRM, and Professor Donos, Head of the COIRM.

For an informal enquiry please email Dr Luigi Nibali at [Email Address Removed].

Funding Notes

The studentship is funded for three years by Barts Charity and will commence 1st May 2018. The student will receive a minimum tax free stipend per annum of £23,000 + £2,000 per year for travel/conference expenses. Three-year PhD tuition fees for UK/EU nationals are also covered.
