About the Project

This research project will build on previous work which showed retinal differences in deaf adults compared to hearing adults by a non-invasive technique of examining the retina called (ocular coherence tomography). This project aims to investigate whether such retinal differences are found in deaf children at a range of ages and whether these changes are influenced by having cochlear implantation (see Codina et al 2011 http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0020417 for further information).
