About the Project

Traditionally, issues relating to land have fallen outside of the international human rights matrix. However, over the past 25 years there have been increasing attempts to create international and regional human rights relating to land, and to use human rights discourse in strategic litigation and lobbying at domestic, regional and international levels. Land justice and human rights spans environmental issues, collective rights of indigenous populations, displacement and resettlement, amongst others. Applicants must hold a 2:1 or 1st class degree in law or social science, and a postgraduate degree in a related subject.

The School of Law at the University of Reading boasts a thriving research community made up of established academic scholars, emerging young researchers and PhD students. It provides excellent guidance and support for PhD students, along with exciting career and personal development opportunities offered through the Graduate School. All PhD students undertake the Reading Researcher Development Programme and the School of Law offers a tailor-made research methods module for its PhD students.
