PhD Studentships (2013/2014): Magnetic Resonance
Applications are invited from graduates in physical sciences for four-year PhD studentships in the integrated Magnetic Resonance (iMR) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). The iMR CDT involves researchers at the Universities of Warwick, St Andrews, Southampton, Dundee, Nottingham and Aberdeen as well as major industrial collaborators and the studentships will be distributed across the partner universities.
The iMR CDT provides a world-unique coherent training programme for doctoral students in all Magnetic Resonance disciplines. We focus on advancing the underpinning technologies and methodologies of Magnetic Resonance with research projects spanning the fields of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Dynamic Nuclear Polarisation. Our goal is to unlock creativity and stimulate new developments in Magnetic Resonance, furthering its reach and impact.
We are particularly keen to attract applicants who have or hope to obtain a first class degree and want to work in a multi-disciplinary environment. We encourage students from a variety of disciplines to apply, especially those with a background in physics, chemistry, materials and engineering with an interest in developing and applying new technologies and techniques.
The iMR CDT funds 4 year PhD’s including fees and maintenance of £14,000 (tax free) per annum, as well as an enhanced travel budget. At least 12 places are available for 2013/14 entry. Students are recruited directly into a PhD programme, with the training delivered through residential workshops and over the internet, primarily in the first two years of study.
