The Department of Law and Criminal Justice Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University is an inter-disciplinary department within a thriving and supportive academic environment. Our programmes, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, reflect the research and professional profiles of our staff. Our research profile includes research and consultancy work funded by the Nuffield Foundation, Kent Police, the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the National Police Improvement Agency, the European Commission (Leonardo da Vinci, Falcone, Agis and ISEC), the DfES/DIUS and a number of local agencies. Key areas of staff expertise include cybercrime, cross-border homicide investigation, restorative justice, police culture, police training, community and neighbourhood policing, criminal investigation, policing in conflict/post-conflict societies and miscarriages of justice.


The Department is currently seeking to develop further its research profile and invites applications from students interesting in carrying out MPhil/PhD research in the following areas:
