About the Project
A studentship is available at QUB for a prestigious 4-year postgraduate training programme within this newly established Centre, funded by the EPSRC. This is a new concept in multi-site graduate training across 4 partner universities (QUB, Surrey, Strathclyde, Huddersfield), with a 3 year research project preceded by one year of taught modules and multidisciplinary training.
The exact nature of the PhD project will be defined during the course of the first year in coordination between the student and the potential supervisors. The programme will include training in specialised and cross-disciplinary subjects, and, where appropriate, industrial placements.
We are looking for bright, talented UK and eligible* EU graduates with a good degree in a relevant science subject (physics, natural sciences, material science etc). The scholarship will provide full fees and a stipend, currently set at £13,590 p.a.. Start date is October 2013.

Funding Notes
The scholarship will provide full fees and a stipend, currently set at £13,590 p.a. According to EPSRC/DEL rules EU citizens are eligible for a full studentships only if they have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years. EU applicants who are not UK residents are eligible for fee only studentships.
