About the Project

The Causes and Patterns of Disease (CaPOD) research theme seeks to appoint a high calibre graduate to undertake a 3 year studentship in

The modulation of epigenetic programming and DNA repair by folate intake during pregnancy on the development of paediatric cancers

This project aims to investigate molecular mechanisms by which folate may influence the development of paediatric cancers, subsequently aiding understanding of disease aetiology and potentially influencing public health nutrition advice for prospective mothers.

CaPOD is a multidisciplinary research theme which aims to contribute to the understanding, prevention and treatment of chronic disease across the life course. Our research falls into four research strands: chronic disease; environment and health; maternal and perinatal health; and paediatric research. Our work spans a diverse range of clinical specialities and utilises a range of research methods and methodologies. Applicants are invited to contact the research theme leads named above for further details about individual projects.
