About the Project
Our laboratory is investigating the ability of stem cells to carry our repair of damaged tissues. In particular we are interested in research into the mechanisms by which stem cells migrate from their original site (the stem cell niche) to areas of tissue repair. We are also using this platform to understand the movement of cells during the spreading of cancer from site of origin to regions around the body.
We are working not only on animal models but also with human derived stem cells and applying ground-breaking live cell imaging, molecular biology and pharmacological, cancer biology strategies to increase tissue repair.
Our laboratory has a number of stem cells under investigation. Furthermore, we work closely with industry so students gain experience of research in a commercial environment.
