Dr A Boston Prof YW Hsueh Liu  Applications accepted all year round  Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

About the Project

Dual Phd Programme with University of Liverpool and the National Tsing Hua University:
The PhD student will spend 2 years studying at the University of Liverpool and 2 years at National Tsing Hua University under the bilaterally agreed 2+2 scheme between the two institutions. The expertise developed at National Tsing Hua University and the University of Liverpool will be transferred between them, to the benefit of both institutions.
Project aim and objectives
This studentship aims to investigate the feasibility of real time imaging of the capture gamma-‐ ray in 10B in order to locate and quantify the dose deposition during Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). The studentship will bring together internationally leading expertise in BNCT at National Tsing Hua University with state-‐of-‐the-‐art gamma-‐ray imaging and sensor systems at the University of Liverpool. The combination of both institutions expertise will provide a unique opportunity to evaluate feasibility of the proposed imaging technique, which has the
potential to revolutionise the treatment planning, and dose verification process.

Funding Notes

Living costs (£2,500 p.a. @ Liverpool, U.K; $10,000 Taiwanese Dollars p.a. @ Hsinchu, Taiwan to be covered by the dual PhD scholarship scheme.
